At our Rewadent Clinic we specialise in restorative dentistry of both adults and children. The essence of conservative dentistry is prevention and treatment of the most common dental disease – caries.
It is caused first and foremost by streptococci, bacteria that produce acids dissolving hard tissues of the tooth (enamel, dentine, cementum).
Caries causes not only unaesthetic stains on teeth, but also defects in hard dental tissue, which when untreated result in irritation and damage in the inner tissue of the tooth, so called “heart of the tooth” that is dentine.

What factors cause caries?

The probability of caries grows in case of incorrect tooth brushing, that is poor oral cavity hygiene, resulting in creating plaque and tartar. Snacking between meals is another adverse factor, as well as the intake of caries causing foods, such as chips, sweets or sweetened (fizzy) drinks. Sometimes caries is caused by susceptibility of teeth to decay – for example because of enamel defects or genetic predisposition.
Caries, when untreated, results in tooth necrosis, which deteriorates the esthetics of our smile and very often influences the whole body condition, which many people are unaware of.

Regardless of the decay stage, all Patients of the Rewadent Clinic are sure to be approached individually and comprehensively, with tailored restoration methods and professional oral hygiene instructions, which will prevent similar problems in the future.

Restorative dentistry treatment comprises:

We learn about our Patients’ needs and expectations during the initial visit. In order to do it the dentist interviews the Patient and does thorough examination of the denture, mucosa, and occlusion. We obtain additional information of the examined area taking pantomographc image.
After analyzing all data we suggest a treatment plan and the order of suggested treatment to the Patient. If need be our Patients are referred to other specialists at our Clinic, e.g.: orthodontist, endodontist or dental surgeon.

The main task in dental prophylaxis is fighting plaque – the main cause of tooth decay and boosting the tooth immunity to acids.

Prophylaxis comprises:

  1. Check – up visits – every 3 months for children, every 6 months for adults
  2. Oral hygiene instructions considering individual needs
  3. Diet tips
  4. Professional teeth clearing – plaque, deposit, tartar removal
  5. Individual fluoride- varnishing

Having considered the stage of uncomplicated decay we carry out the following treatment:

  1. Remineralisation – in case of incipient dental caries characterised by incipient spots, we apply fluoride rubbing in the lesions, to stop the process and prevent further development.
  2. Tooth preparation and filling – the decayed tissue is removed and later filled in with light cured material.
In order to recreate the natural shape a decayed crown or a incorrectly filled tooth we use many solutions. What we pay special attention to is esthetics, namely matching colour and shape of the filling, the functionality of the restored tooth and proper articulation, as well as the smile – full, pleasant and simply healthy!

For crown restorations we use state of the art materials of renown companies such as: GC (Gradia direct, G-aenial ), 3M (Filtek ultimate) or Heraeus Kulzer (Charisma diamond) and dental accessories from i.a. 3M, enabling maintenance proper conditions during tooth filling.
Tooth feeling technique or restoration technique used by the dentist is quite significant too. In order to rebuild the crown in the most accurate way our dentists use the multilayer technique of various transparency and shade materials, which can perfectly reproduce the work of nature.

This kind of treatment is applied in cases of pulp inflammation (so called nerve), necrosis or gangrenous pulp necrosis ( so called tooth gangrene). It comprises of removal of infected or dead pulp form the chamber and root canals, mechanical dilatation and disinfection of canals and filling with a special filling material.
Precision and accuracy and guaranteed successful treatment is achieved thanks to cutting edge technology, among others Carl Zeiss dental microscope, endodontics micromotor VDW or endoactivator.
The microscope enables visualization of minute details that are invisible by the naked eye, thanks to high contrast with large viewing area and very good illumination of the treated area. The microscope proves extremely useful for finding root canal orifice as well as tracing and removing broken root canal instruments and an integrated video camera enables following the procedure live and to prepare treatment documentation.

Our clinic offers innovative caries infiltration Icon Method treatment of white spots in initial caries stages, which are particularly noticeable on front teeth. It can be applied also in proximal areas and after removing dental braces. Since now we are able to stop carries at an early stage and offer a solution for treating white spots. The main advantages of Icon Method are: pain-free therapy without drilling, preservation of healthy tooth tissues and short therapy time – the treatment is carried out during one appointment.

ICON treatment optically blends in the lesion with the healthy enamel.

There are three stages of the treatment procedure:

  1. A special gel is applied on the pre-prepared surfaces of tooth enamel.
  2. Gel penetrates tooth tissue filling and sealing early cavities.
  3. Light curing reinforces lesions – white spots blend in with the tooth structure.

A major advantage of ICON method is that it can be applied to primary teeth. It is much easier now to treat  caries in the teeth of children avoiding stress caused by drilling.

Does treatment have to hurt?

Nowadays a dental visit does not have to be associated with pain, which is accompanying treatment. In order to improve your comfort we are trying to eliminate pain and encourage you to be treated with anaesthesia that of Your preference.
If we think “anaesthesia at the dentist” 80 percent of us see a needle and a syringe. However, the situation has changed in recent years. To live up to our Patients expectations we are trying to eliminate traditional anaesthesia in favour of computer controlled local anaesthesia, similarly to western Europe and the USA, where The Wand - computer controlled anaesthesia is standard practice.
The Wand is one of the most advanced pieces of equipment at a dental surgery, with an integrated microprocessor the anaesthesia is delivered gradually without the feeling of tissue damage and the pain itself. The administration of anaesthesia is computer controlled, reliable and does not result in numbness of face, mouth or tongue. The Patient in the chair does not feel pain or discomfort and he or she may easily talk.  Taking into account the way of administration, the most common type of anaesthesia is topical anaesthesia, eliminating pain. Taking into consideration the way anaesthesia is administered, the local anaesthesia, eliminating pain in the peripheral nervous system, is the most commonly used at dental practices.

Local anaesthesia is broken down into four main categories:

  • Surface anaesthesia

The least invasive anaesthesia used is usually numbing gel. It acts on mucosous membrane of the oral cavity and is used e.g. in cutting submucous abscesses, milk teeth extractions, and for particularly sensitive people (adults and children) it is administered before the use of infiltration anaesthesia and periodontal anaesthesia where injection is required in the treated tooth region.
  • Infiltration anaesthesia

p>It comprises of injection of anaesthesia to the gum in the treated tooth region. It is a perfect solution in such treatment as: restorative treatment or extraction of upper teeth and lower incisors.
  • Periodontal anaesthesia

p>It is used, among others, in milk and in permanent teeth (not inflamed) extractions, in endodontic treatment (root canal treatment), pedodontic treatment (children dentistry) and in prosthetics. The very injection is done with a syringe under high pressure inserting the needle into periodontal ligament (for molars it is required to administer two injections between the tooth and alveolar bone).  .
  • Intraoral anaesthesia

The aim of this kind of anaesthesia is to eliminate pain by administering the anaesthesia and  at the same time numbing the nerve located in the pulp.
This anaesthesia is used for lower dentition and after application the Patient does not sense touch, warmth, cold and there is the strong feeling of numbness in half of jaw (the symptoms may last for a few hours).
